Development in fish vaccinology with focus on delivery methodologies, adjuvants and formulations

چکیده
Sustainable development in aquaculture is equivalent to disease prevention, and vaccination has become the single most important tool. There has been a dramatic reduction in use of antibiotics in Norwegian salmon farming since the introduction of oil-based vaccines. Today, it is an industry standard in all salmon-producing countries, and we are seeing a similar approach being adopted in Japan for farming high value species. Fish can be vaccinated by immersion and the oral route, however, the protection falls short compared to injection vaccination. Interesting new technologies have emerged over the last 5 years, particularly injection of a single dose of naked DNA into the fish muscle. Nevertheless, the prospect of having a commercial product on the market within 5 years is meagre. New technologies are promising but it is more likely there will be improvements of existing vaccines than completely new technologies taking over the fish vaccination scene in the next 5-10 years.

Polymer-basednanoadjuvants for hepatitis C vaccine: The perspectives of immunologists
The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is an infection that affects the liver tissues in humans, leading to the development of effective prophylactic and therapeutic HCV vaccines to prevent a global epidemic. Scientists consider it challenging to produce a therapeutic vaccine for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma as opposed to a preventative vaccine. However, several drawbacks are involved with a ...
متن کاملLiposome and polymer-based nanomaterials for vaccine applications
Nanoparticles (NPs) are effective and safe adjuvants for antigen delivery in modern vaccinology. Biodegradable nanomaterials with suitable properties are frequently applied for conjugation or loading with antigens; they protect the antigens from degradation in vivo. NPs are applied as effective delivery system to facilitate antigen uptake by antigen presenting cells (APCs) and especially dendri...
متن کاملFrom Antigen Delivery System to Adjuvanticy: The Board Application of Nanoparticles in Vaccinology
In the last years, nanotechnologies have raised great interest because of the potential applications of engineered nanoparticles in nanomedicine (i.e., in vaccination, in diagnostic imaging procedures, and as therapeutic drug delivery systems). The use of nanoparticles in medicine has brought about the issue of their interaction with the immune system for two main reasons: first, understanding ...

Introduction: Vaccinology provides promising approaches for the control of various infectious diseases. Among different strategies, DNA vaccines offer attractive research opportunities for development of vaccines for induction of antigen-specific immunity owing to their stability, simplicity of delivery, safety and cost effectiveness. However, there is a need to increase their potency by the ...

Most infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic infiltrations from the mucosal tract. Nowadays, the use of vaccines has been widely investigated for the prevention of different infectious diseases, infertility, immune disorders, malignancies, and allergies. Broad-spectrum adjuvant substances have been studied for immune system stimulation with a greater efficiency against specific antigens. V...
